"Not One Not Two" relates thematically to its location at the Science building on the campus of Illinois State University. The sculpture responds to an aspect of the Heisenberg Principle that recognizes the inability to separate the experiment from the experimenter. The surface texture of bark together with the stark white concrete and substantial tilt of the sculpture sets up a marked contrast with the heavily geometrical campus architecture.
